Before & After: A $2. DIY Kitchen Renovation . Koko moved into this home not long before her husband Quincy was deployed for a tour in the Army. They had talked about renovating the kitchen when they first moved in, but plans were put on hold until Quincy's return.
Because they did most of the work themselves, they estimated that they spent approximately $2. Take a look at their DIY renovation. One of Koko's biggest complaints was that the kitchen was closed off and didn't have any natural light or ventilation.
This expansion definitely solved both of those problems. By knocking down the wall that closed off the kitchen and by cutting a pass- through into the wall, they were able to let in a lot of light. They started planning by using the IKEA Kitchen Builder Tool, and then consulted with a friend who is also a contractor to make sure they were doing everything correctly. Not only does it provide extra work space, but it seats five people.
We love that it is a massive island, but it doesn't overwhelm the space, thanks to the expansion. Plus, they still have room for a dining table. What a perfect space for entertaining!
I’ve never been too shy about talking about how much I spent for things, so as promised, I figured I’d do a breakdown post of the kitchen costs. The Kitchen Renovation. The sink & faucet. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but this ENTIRE kitchen renovation actually started because of a sink.
I wanted a new one. Specifically, I wanted this apron front sink from Ikea.
I liked that it. Because in the olden days (when people got scurvy and rickets) sinks would not have been undermount. They would have sat on the counter like a regular sink. Garrett. The only problem was it was cheery and too big and had an apron. No more salmonella scares! Plus since I don’t have a utility sink in this whole house, at any given time I could be washing just about anything off of my hands.
